MARCH 2012 FLOODING IN PUNTA ARENAS

March 2012 - After 3 days of raining, the River de la Mano flooded the city of Punta Arenas leaving the main part of the city center under water and mud.  Because of the magnitude of the situation, missionaries decided to support the community and provide service.  Sixteen missionaries (12 elders, 4 sisters) started with the removal of water then mud from affected homes.  Then they helped clean the affected streets along the river.  A week after the rains, the missionaries were asked to help clean up some of the government buildings that were still full of water and mud.
