The group going home in November was so large, they almost had the bus going to Santiago to themselves. I'll bet the 3 other people did not sleep much that night.

THE BEAUTY OF SOUTHERN CHILE ! ! ! ! ! !

Fields of these bright yellow flowers (rapeseed) are used to make canola oil. You see alot of these fields in October-November.

I have never seen rainbows with such vivid colors as the ones I have seen here.

PUYEHUE VOLCANO - NOV 2011

Nov 2011 - The Puyehue volcano (more than an hour out of Osorno) erupted in June 2011 before we arrived. It is still constantly spewing smoke and ash. The wind usually takes most of it over to Argentina. Once in a while the wind changes and it makes it a little hazy and flights to Osorno and Puerto Montt get postponed or cancelled. These photos are taken from the Puyehue Thermal Resort in the Puyehue National Park.

Like all Latin American cities, Osorno has a central plaza. On every plaza there is a church (San Mateo Cathedral in this plaza), and at least one government building. The two large Chilean flags are up to celebrate Independence day - Sept. 18.
